Pet Grooming Tips By Caitlin Our Groomer
Hi everyone this is your Great Canadian Paws Groomer, Caitlin! Just a quick note on some tips to keep your pooch looking their best and how often you should be bringing them in to see me!
The average dog usually needs to be groomed every six to eight weeks unless you have a short-haired dog but don’t forget about their nails! Nails should be trimmed at least once a month, if you wait too long the vein inside the nail (also known as the quick) grows with the nail and it takes a while to get it back down.
If you like your pooch looking cute and fluffy, in between grooms you should get on a brushing routine with your dog. For coats that are more than an inch long you should be brushing them once a day with a slicker brush. If there are a few knots in your dogs coat, don’t worry if they aren’t too severe you can brush them out. Don’t bathe your dog more than once a month especially if they have some knots in their coat, the knots just absorb the water and tighten up and make the matting much worse. It also is not good for your dogs skin to bathe them more than once a month.
Hope these tips help!
